Out in the boondocks
OUT IN THE BOONDOCKS
V1
I live way out in the bayou In this Northern Louisiana town.
There isn't much to do here, than drive this ole '74 Chevy pickup-ruck around.
Each night we all gather at Smokey Joe's late night honky-tonk.
We laugh, square-dance, and play some cards and throw a little Kenny on the jukebox.
It’s a world where life moves by slowly, and there’s no need for corporate time clocks
Yeah that's just the way we like it out here;
Out here in the boon-docks!
((Chorus:))
Out here in the boondocks where the crayfish and gators swim.
Out here where your only neighbor for miles around is a backwoods doomsday prepper named Jim
Where a trip into the big city for groceries at Target, almost feels like a sin.
Where Sunday's are spent at church in the morning, but at night its all about
watching the high school football team win.
Where the tractors roar, and the horses neigh, and the tumbleweed tumbles in the wind.
Where we can breathe clean fresh air and see the stars at night,
where the harvest never seems to end.
Where the fireflies glow in that thicket, out by the big red barn.
Where the country music blasts through every radio all day and all night long.
Where the skeeters are the size of big ole Texarkana Bull frogs
We have our grits in the morning, chicken and waffles at night.
And we always top it off with a slice of grandma's home-made apple pie.
Its a place where time moves by slowly, and there's no need for corporate time-clocks.
Yeah that's the way we like living.
Out here in the boon-docks.
V2
Now-
It may be forty miles to the nearest grocery store, but i wouldn’t give any of this up.
A place where we don’t have to worry about commuting
Where we can drive a tractor to work.
It’s the only place I can feel free and I don’t want this to stop
Yeah
That’s how life is here living
out here in the boondocks
CHORUS:
Out here in the boondocks, where the crayfish and gators swim
Out here where your only neighbor, is a backwoods doomsday prepper named Jim.
Where a trip into the big city for groceries at Target, almost feels like a sin.
Where the tractors roar, the horses neigh, and the tumbleweeds tumble in the wind.
Where we love the country living, but the harvest never seems to end.
Where the fireflies glow in that thicket, out by the big red barn.
Where the country music blasts all day and we square-dance night long.
Where the skeeters are the size of big ole Texarkana Bull frogs!
Its a place where time moves by slowly, and there's no need for corporate time-clocks.
Yeah that's the way we like living.
Out here in the boon-docks.
V3
Now
Some like the hustle and bustle of New York.
But for me I like the sound of the banjo
And the woodpeckers at work.
Roasting marshmallows over a Bonfire
spending the weekend building a tree fort.
Where it doesn’t matter what kind of car you drive.
Where all that matters is who you are and how you live your life.
That you provide for your kids and you love your wife
That you are good to your friends and you enjoy your life.
Its a place where the country music never stops.
Yeah that's how we live life
Out here int he Boon-docks!
END TAG:
So if you’re thinking of coming down here
Make sure you’ve got a good heart.
Because that’s how we roll out here
Out here in the boondocks
That’s how we live life
out here in the boondocks
Yeah
That's how we live our lives.
Out here in the boondocks.
Bridge
Where the fireflies glow all summer long
Where are the country music blasts
through that southern boggy fog
Where the skeeters are the size of
Big ole Texas bull frogs
Where a good spot for a picnic is
on top of an old fallen log
Where we don’t have to worry
about commuting or
Punching a corporate time clock
That’s the way we live life out
here in the boondocks
End tag
So if you’re thinking of coming down here
Make sure you’ve got a good heart
Because that’s how we roll out here
Out here in the boondocks
That’s how we live life
out here in the boondocks
